The Viscious

As I bask in the moonlight, I see your face
As I close my eyes and soak in the stars
The thought of you makes e shiver, the chills
Trickle down my neck and grip my spine in a crushing embrace
Your smile, cool calculating, seemingly innocent

Yes, that smile, how could I have known what lurked
Dangerously close to me was not an innocent
But a predator. All fangs, claws attitude and appetite
Waiting to devour me, my hopes, my plans, my night
How could I have known, looking into your eyes, into nothing?

Profound, dark, cold, empty, fertile, nothing
Infected with greed, with beauty, with hidden scars
Of those before me who have succumbed to your
Untraceable past. I know you. I do know you.

I know you cry out for me in the darkest
night hours.  I know you yearn for me with a burning
Desire that melts away all your other thoughts in
Its searing, nuclear heat. I know the horrors of
love unrequited, jealousy, envy, sorrow, and despair

A web of pain, tearing away, revealing a maniacal joy, disturbingly powerful
Frenzied, panicked elation that spirals out of control, finally
I know you will seek, so shall I hide the emotions that gorge you
Yet I still stand in silence, in solitude, stoically awaiting, basking in the moonlight
Until you reach me, and feast.
